How can I broadcast using a Ricoh Theta S 360 camera?

You will need Periscope Producer to broadcast using the Ricoh Theta S 360 camera.

  1. Go to
  2. Under Computer application, download and install the Ricoh Theta S Live-streaming app for Windows/Mac
  3. Connect the Ricoh Theta S to the computer via USB and click Register
  4. On the camera, press both the Power and Camera Mode buttons at the same time until the blue Live icon starts flashing.
  5. Install and open OBS, add (+) New Scene and create (+) a new Video Capture Device source.
  6. Select “Theta FullHD Blender” as the video Source.
  7. In OBS Settings input the following:
    • Input Periscope 360 Source Stream URL/Key found in:
      Periscope App > Profile > Settings > Periscope Producer > Source Connection Info [360]
    [Output > Advanced > Streaming]
    • Video Bitrate: 1500 to 2000 Kb/s = 1.5 to 2 Mb/s (2 max) 
    • Keyframe Interval: 2 - Every 2 seconds (OBS) or Keyframe every 60 frames (Wirecast)
    • Audio Bitrate & Format: 64kb/s - 96 kb/s AAC or AAC-LC
    • Output (Scaled) resolution: 1440 x 720
    • Common FPS Values: 30fps (Frame rate)
  8. Save settings and on the OBS Stream Preview screen hit Start Streaming
  9. In the Periscope iOS or Android app, tap the blue Preview Button, which should now be visible in Periscope Producer under the source you used.
  10. On the start broadcast screen, select your audience, give the broadcast a title and hit "Go LIVE"!
